With the last quarter of 2026 upon us, it’s easy to feel like we should be pushing for that one major success that may turn our year from average to BIG … I used to think like this before I understood my positioning …
Your what?
It’s easy to think about deadlines and the fact that you may be behind on calendar targets; pressure starts to build as we reflect and start thinking … no one wants to talk now – it’s December … but maybe I can score …
I see this often in networking. I see the usually serene, calm business owner pacing the month, understanding why consistency always wins, and suddenly – it’s like an alarm sounds and it’s time to start hunting! Time to push for that hidden reward that may come with just a little more hustle and encouragement.
Sound like you? Surely no …
You know what? It doesn’t look good watching the hunter in operation. Here’s someone who was once the epitome of cruise control, the model cultivator, suddenly becoming a new version of aggressive deal-maker. They start to fret. There are last-minute discounts mentioned, two for one. All that stuff.
It doesn’t look good to me; it makes no sense to lose your positioning, your bizability.
Every year we know December follows three months after September, and still we see some looking to push for the seasonal wins … a little too feverishly. I know it’s a strategy many hold dear, although it can be counter-productive. If only we learned to pace the last quarter, coming off summer with a clear understanding that Autumn requires consolidation, housekeeping, perhaps even a little …gratitude?
I encourage my friends to look hard at what networking actually teaches us. The value of patience, dedication, knowledge sharing, and commitment to products and services. We develop our reputation and so grow the business through the cultivation of relationships.
By staying consistently reliable, we build trust and so enable others to recommend our services when the need arises.
We know that business is personal, so if you’re in business for the long-term September is a great time of the year to prove it – business is personal, relationships sell.
