smiles are infectious

I’m very rarely declared the righteous one; I know that. Life is lived and we learn from experiences, decisions right or wrong we choose to share with others as we continue ‘down the track.’

As I step out, my closest friends are those who understand the peculiarities of life to the extent I do. I love hearing their stories as much as I delight in sharing the experience from my side of the fence or sofa (breakfast bun poised!)

Yes, I spend time networking, and yes, those who return week after week have a story to tell. Not always so with Bjorn, whom I hadn’t seen since he moved to America a couple of years ago. I’d received a text from him, asking whether it would be OK if he might visit the business group some time. He was eager to catch up, meet old friends who might remember him and update the audience on what he’d been creating since we last saw him.

“I’ve some exciting news, and I think your group may be interested,” says Bjorn.

I had no objections and eager to hear more of his story. I did remember our last conversation, immediately post-Covid, he was lost on networking, he didn’t ‘get it’ and ‘found the routine taxing’ as he struggled to introduce his bigger plans which, sadly, never really inspired him. The plans seemed a necessity over love, something that left those of us in the room with a lot of work in introducing new business  Bjorn’s way.

So moving forward five years to the day Bjorn visits the Weeklybiz, a naturally cheery Scandinavian Dental Technician, his infectious merriment and enthusiastic recollections filled the room … Bjorn was eager to explain his main occupation during his time in the USA had diversified a little. He described his new business as one of … throwaway dentures, you know the ones? Choose your cheesy as you dress up for the weekend … No? Surely.

Bjorn stood to speak and was full of chat and demonstration, changing his looks in a flash with the insertion of a vast array of gnashers…

They were ‘all the rage’ over the pond and he was interested to hear our reaction and most importantly, if we knew any contacts that may help him ‘spread the word.’

He even offered a ‘free fitting,’ a smile make-over to anyone from the network who wished to stick around after the meeting.

Needless to say, the room fell silent as Bjorn stood tall to sign-off, proudly declaring he could help anyone improve their smile, all they had to do was reach out to Bjorn, Bjorn in the USA!

It was lovely to catch up with Bjorn, certainly a unique proposition – and since we’d last met up he had certainly found his own language of engagement through the smile as he helped us all develop the Human Brand.

People buy into those they know and trust!
